Dear Members,
Since WIRES' statement on 17 April, there has been no further communication confirming the acknowledgement of Authorised Persons as full members, nor any confirmation that the 2007 Constitution remains valid and current.
As a result, we had begun preparing a notification for a Special General Meeting (SGM) to be convened by members, with the aim of removing the four directors believed to be primarily responsible for the serious issues WIRES is facing—including the improper transition from an Association to a Company, and the removal of hundreds of WIRES members.
Thankfully, following a court hearing on Friday, 27 June, WIRES was finally compelled to respond.
On Thursday, 26 June, members should have received notification from WIRES (around 7:00 pm) regarding two upcoming SGMs. If you did not receive this notification, please contact WIRES at members@wires.org.au.
The two SGMs are scheduled as follows:
Monday, 21 July: To reinstate members and formally adopt a revised version of the 2007 Constitution.
Wednesday, 13 August: To vote on the removal of the following directors:
Lyn Fowler (Chair)
Vickii Lett (Vice Chair)
Evelyn Anderson-Ho (Secretary)
Wayne Lavers (Committee Member)
It is deeply disappointing that the WIRES Board has failed to comply with its governing constitution and has not included the resolutions to remove the four directors at the 21 July 2025 meeting.
This matter, along with other issues relating to WIRES' proposals, including the failure to hold the meetings at physical venues as required by the Corporations Act, is currently under legal review.
We will continue to keep you informed through this website and our Facebook pages:

In the meantime, we encourage you to review the materials provided by WIRES, including the agendas, the proposed revised constitution, and information about the proxy voting process. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us or WIRES directly. We kindly ask for your patience, as many of us are still actively engaged in rescue and care work.
Thank you for your continued support.
